Day Three

April Four, 2010
Yesterday I realized it was a little silly to be posting the date when Blogger does that for you, but I don't care. I'm already in the habit.
So this morning I woke up in the laundry room and stayed there for a while. Got up about nine. I didn't have breakfast (My mom was trying to make blueberry pancakes--the results were a little ... erm, disastrous), but I stayed and read for a while.
Remember how I mentioned that Clark slipped on a trampoline yesterday? Well, this morning, right before Dad and I left for church (Happy Easter, everybody!), Mom and Dad made the decision that since Clark was in a lot of pain and his foot was twice as large as it should be, Mom would take him to the emergency room. Dad and I continued to go to church and he got updates on his Blackberry every few minutes. It was fairly quick: Apparently not a ton of people get hurt on Easter morning. How interesting.
We went back to our house after church and found Clark with a splint, prescription pain medication, properly fitting crutches and a badly sprained ankle. Ouch. He stayed here (His loss) while the rest of the family went into GR to an Easter brunch with my grandparents. The Reeses' cheesecake for dessert was superb!
We returned and my mom and I changed to go hiking at Tunnel Park so that I could train for the Appalachian Trail in June, which my church group goes on. It requires a lot of stair-climbing. So we were going to go climb up and down stairs. Unfortunately, the stairs there were under construction, so we drove about thirty or forty more minutes to another hiking area: Sanctuary Woods. This one didn't have as many stairs, but had a large jogging loop through the scenic forests. I borrowed Clark's armband for his iPod and it was really helpful. First we walked the loop (40 minutes) then walked up and down the one long flight of stairs a few times. Then Mom convinced me to go around one more time, this time jogging. It only took ten minutes! We cut our time in FOURTHS. Whoa. Then we got back, checked for ticks, and did sit-ups (Thirty, to be exact). I sat and read, and now I'm eating a carrot and writing here.
The weather was nice and clear and warm earlier, sunny. It got progressively cloudier through the day and now it's looking like rain again. Urgh. It's still warm, though :).
CONNECTIONS
Emma: I texted with her earlier about Clark, but haven't heard from her all day. She's going to write a story for me, which is great because I LOVE her writing.
Emily: I got the idea to write a poem about her in church. So I did.
Anja: I thought about her while admiring my room because I painted over the ugly purple color we both hated so much.
Caitlin: She's probably getting addicted to gambling right about now.
Later,
Madeline
